I'm happy to say I enjoyed book 4 of the Fairyland series better than book 3. The pacing seems very off, like the first 3/5 was rather slow and have the reader enough time to digest everything, the last 2/5 was too fast to even swallow in time til the ending. I enjoyed the slower chapters of Thomas Rood growing up in Chicago better than the later chapters. It was very interesting seeing how a creature of Fairyland in the skin of a human boy would react to our magicless world. The later chapters went by so quickly that not much made sense. While before the plot seemed to move forward based on the character's actions, the Fairyland part of the plot seemed to just pull Tom through the pages instead of giving him and his friends time to act. The ending sort of seemed to just explode into an ending out of nowhere. I'm intrigued enough to maybe read the fifth and final book, but I doubt I'll make it a priority.
