this is a great book, especially for younger readers!
I wish I had been introduced to Korean mythology at a younger age with books like these.

Really good book Really enjoy it , the whole mythology part was awesome and interesting, and i love the adventure part and the sister love in it . Is all about family and i love that about it

* I got this book for review from the publisher* I really adored this read. I really loved how this book was such a fun korean inspired read, with a witch and mythology twist. I found this book to be super fast pace. I loved how the circle of friends increased as the book went on. I also really liked at the heart of this read, was the sisterhood elment. This book had so many of the elements is expected from a mythology read for 2020 culture. I read this book in two days and had a hard to putting it down! Such a great read!!! Can't wait for book 2, def one of my favorite imprint books overall.

I received a galley of this book through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This book has a content warning for death of a loved one. I had so much fun while reading this book. This world is just so different from anything I've read before and I love how the author used Korean mythology and mixed it into the real world. The main reason I love urban fantasy is that a fantastic world just co-exists next to ours and a good urban fantasy makes me believe that fantasy world does actually exist and we just don't know about it. This book made me feel like that. I really loved the story. It went in a direction that I wasn't really expecting and I overall just had a fun time following the adventure our main character went on. Talking about our main character I really liked her. I think she was an amazing and realistic main character and I loved the growth she went through during this journey. I also quite liked the side characters. Some of them were a bit one dimensional but the overall cast of characters was very lively and I can't wait to spend more time with them in the next books of this series.

This was ok. I didn't love the magic. I didn't love the mc. I loved Em. I received a copy from Net Galley.

Disclaimer: I received this finished copy from the publisher. Thanks! All opinions are my own. Book: The Last Fallen Star Author: Graci Kim Book Series: Gifted Clans book 1 Diversity: Adopted mc, Korean mc and family Rating: 5/5 Recommended For...: mg readers, fantasy, mythology Genre: MG Fantasy Publication Date: May 4, 2021 Publisher: Rick Riordan Presents Pages: 312 Recommended Age: 9+ (Death, Gore, Violence, and Possession) Synopsis: Riley Oh can't wait to see her sister get initiated into the Gom clan, a powerful lineage of Korean healing witches their family has belonged to for generations. Her sister, Hattie, will earn her Gi bracelet and finally be able to cast spells without adult supervision. Although Riley is desperate to follow in her sister's footsteps when she herself turns thirteen, she's a saram--a person without magic. Riley was adopted, and despite having memorized every healing spell she's ever heard, she often feels like the odd one out in her family and the gifted community. Then Hattie gets an idea: what if the two of them could cast a spell that would allow Riley to share Hattie's magic? Their sleuthing reveals a promising incantation in the family's old spell book, and the sisters decide to perform it at Hattie's initiation ceremony. If it works, no one will ever treat Riley as an outsider again. It's a perfect plan! Until it isn't. When the sisters attempt to violate the laws of the Godrealm, Hattie's life ends up hanging in the balance, and to save her Riley has to fulfill an impossible task: find the last fallen star. But what even is the star, and how can she find it? As Riley embarks on her search, she finds herself meeting fantastic creatures and collaborating with her worst enemies. And when she uncovers secrets that challenge everything she has been taught to believe, Riley must decide what it means to be a witch, what it means to be family, and what it really means to belong. Review: Oh my goodness I absolutely loved this book! The author did so well to intermingle mythology with this story and I enjoyed every last drop of it. I loved the characters, especially Riley, and I loved the world building. The book had a strong plot and I was hooked from beginning to end. The only criticism I have for the book is that it was a bit too fast paced I think. I think it could have been slowed down and extended another 30-50 pages. I can't wait for the next book in this series! Verdict: Highly recommend!

My heart is so full! I loved every moment of this! ♥

Thank you to Disney Publishing and NetGalley for this ARC! This fast-paced middle grade follows Riley Oh, an adopted girl whose family is part of 1 of the Gifted Clans. Unfortunately, Riley doesn’t have the same magical abilities as the rest of her family, which is something she longs for. Riley’s sister, Hattie, offers to share her magic with Riley, but things go horribly wrong and it’s up to Riley and her best friend, Emmett, to set things right before it’s too late. I absolutely loved this book! It’s full of Korean culture and mythology and touches on important topics like acceptance, belonging, and the importance of family. If you enjoy fast-paced middle grade fantasies and/or the other Rick Roirdan Presents series, I highly recommend picking this up.

4.95 Just go read it’s freaking cute and amazing and wholesome First and Foremost a special thank you to the publisher for providing an arc an exchange for a review I knew I was going to love this book because of the epic introduction Rick Riordan gave. You truly are in for an experience with this book and I love that it was under the hands of Riordan's imprint. Kim was able to ground characters in the love and loss and triumphs. We follow our main character Riley Oh , she is adopted and that does not stop her bound between her sister - Hattie - and herself. Her adopted family comes from a long line of healers who follow the motto of service and sacrifice. Riley is a saram -human without magic- who desperately was to wield the magic that her family does. So on the day of Hattie's initiation the two sisters hatch a plan to magic a way for Riley to obtain magic but some beans are spills, someone nearly drowns, and a goddess appears. Riley and her Bestie Emmet go on an adventure to reverse the mess Riley caused only to be tested at every turn. Riley was able to prove that she knows the true meaning of service and sacrifice as well as what it means to be yourself and shine bright. The secrets, love, loss, and discovery throughout the book were truly wholesome. I enjoyed being surprised with each new plot development as character growth. I cannot wait to see what Kim has in store and how she'll manage to make me gasp, lol, cry, and explore in book two
