A Gentleman in the Street

A Gentleman in the Street

Alisha Rai2015
Shameless. That's what she was. Billionaire businesswoman Akira Mori can get anything and anyone her heart desires. Anyone, that is, except for a certain aloof author who has been dominating her dreams for over a decade. Accustomed to Jacob Campbell's stern disapproval, Akira has turned provocation into an art, using every trick in her arsenal to keep the man from guessing the depth of her filthy fantasies. Shameless. That's what she made him. Since the moment the sexy, sultry socialite sidled up to him years ago, there hasn't been a time when Jacob didn't crave Akira. But as guardian to his younger siblings, responsibility has controlled his life. Confining his darkest desires to secret, stolen moments maintains his carefully disciplined world...but a cold bed is the price he pays. A single touch is all it takes for their simmering need to explode. As secrets and fears are stripped away one by one, shame becomes a thing of the past. They find themselves becoming addicted to each other, in bed and out-a frightening prospect for a man just learning to live...and a woman who thinks she doesn't know how to love.

** spoiler alert ** Let me start by saying , I loved this. Absolutely loved this. Had me hooked from start to finish, I finished it in a span of few hours despite the hectic schedule. Love, love love. There’s spice, lots of great, detailed spice. The writing is great, Alisha’s language skill is phenomenal and I think reading her masterpiece has blessed my year. It’s not too lengthy either, just enough and the story wraps up nicely. My only issue was the lack of background on Akira’s grandmother’s love story (okay maybe that’s just me 😅) it’s a 4.5 read for me <3 • We have it all here. Subtle enemies to lovers, sort of a second chance romance. Badass female MC and an absolutely adorable yet palpitatingly hot male MC. There’s adorable banter, snarky comments, LOTS OF ANGST, humour especially. • The thing I loved the most about this book is that it explored the stigma surrounding women and their sexuality as well as categorising people into “types” based on their sexual encounters/number of partners/the way one presents themselves . Akira is unapologetically bold and is never ashamed of her sexual endeavours. She explores her sexuality and isn’t shameless about it, she’s sexy and confident as well as strong successful businesswoman. She’s bold and strong, unapologetic and courageous despite all she went through and I absolutely adore her for that. Sure she’s had doubtful moments, insecurities but she managed them well, and remained as confident and sassy as ever. I believe it’s important that women embrace our desires the way Akira does. Now moving on to Jacob. He’s an absolute cinnamon roll, dominant nevertheless. He’s been through his fair share of issues and yet remains to be a loving and caring sibling. He was always there for Kati and the twins, putting his life on hold to care for them and I think that’s selfless and wholesome. One thing that I loved most about him was that he never degraded Akira, never disrespected her or chastised her for her bold desires. He respected her ideas, accepted them with an open mind. He indulged in them with her, proving to her that he was equally as involved as she’d ever be. He never once disregarded her, always respected her for the strong, independent and self made woman she is. We love a king who respects his qUEEN 😩❤️ • Okay that’s all from me. Go read this.
