Wealthy, well-known philanthropist, Dr. Emory Charbonneau runs a successful medical practice as a pediatrician with her two OB-Gyn partners. Also a marathon runner, Emory likes to challenge herself, so she plans a training run in the North Carolina mountains, much to the chagrin of her husband, Jeff. When Emory falls during her run, she is rescued by a local mountain man who refuses to tell Emory his name or take her back into town, using the weather as an excuse. The more time Emory spends with this mystery man, the more questions she has, along with an attraction to him that she can't easily explain.
Mean Streak starts out with a great premise that is carried through most of the book until the last few chapters where the twists take unbelievable and far-fetched turns. The character of Emory's husband, Jeff, is so cliched, the parts of the story involving him are hard to read. Other characters are underdeveloped, especially those that become important by the end of the book. However, the first two-thirds of the novel are very enjoyable, building an interesting mystery and a fun romance between Emory and her mystery man. Overall, Mean Streak is a mostly enjoyable story with an unsatisfying conclusion.

Sandra Brown is one of my all time favourite authors so when the opportunity arose for me to read and review her latest novel Mean Streak I was ecstatic. While reading this novel I was reminded of the reason for loving Ms. Brown's work. She knows how to weave a story that will hold her reader's attention from the very first line. This ability was re-enforced in Mean Streak. I was compelled to keep reading as I was eager to find out what was going to happen next. Mean Streak is an entertaining read. It's a page turner that is filled with several edge of your seat and nail biting moments. The plot is filled with so many twists and turns it was like being on a roller coaster ride. It is emotional, shocking and riveting. As is common with romantic suspense novels, the romance is limited however the few love scenes that were present were quite intense. The characters were entertaining and humourous and it was easy to develop a connection with them. My favourite of the lot was the male protagonist. The air of mystery surrounding him made him intriguing. It was difficult to determine if he was the hero or the villain. He was likable which will have readers rooting for him. My least favourite is Jeff, Emory's husband. It was evident that his relationship with his wife was not all rosy. He is jealous of her accomplishments and tried to justify it by cheating on her. Mean Streak is a story of love, betrayal and rediscoveries. It will keep you guessing at every page turn. If you are looking for an exciting and suspenseful read, then look no further as Mean Streak has it all. NB I received a complimentary copy courtesy of Netgalley in exchange for a honest review.

Fun guilty pleasure read!! A fun thriller with plenty of racy bits. The characters aren’t real or likable enough to my taste but it kept me totally engrossed from the first page so I have to give it 4 Stars

Personally, this is one of my favourites of Sandra Brown and has become my comfort read.

Ummm Couldn't stop reading this even though I didn't like the story at all. Not sure what that means, one bit.
