All the Little Lights
Reviews

I have only read Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire and this book is vastly different from that one. I will say that it is probably best to go into this book as blind as possible. I think that going into it blindly will increase the enjoyment for the reader. I did like the premise of this book; it mixed a mysterious, thriller vibe with a sweet romance. At times, this novel can be a bit slow but because you want to unravel the mystery you kind of just tolerate the slow parts. I also, feel that the novel could have been condensed down somewhat as well. Some parts of the book were a bit strange, but it adds to the mystery aspect of the story. This book deals with various topics, such as: racism, bullying, mental health, neglect, divorce, grief/loss, etc. For the most part, I did enjoy the characters; they were flawed and relatable. It is a bit difficult to discuss this book and remain spoiler-free. Overall, I enjoyed reading this book.

There was a cute love story and a fun mystery to figure out. Not much depth or unpredictability to the characters. It was much different than any other Jamie McGuire booms - not in a bad way! Was a pleasant surprise. Only negative was the many many many inconsistencies through out the book. I had to reread many paragraphs and go "huh?" Things like reading the character walked into the bathroom then the next action was "opened dresser drawer". Or the way she would describe the room and it's layout but then reading what characters did being completely incapable. Most of those moments didn't think the plot so I just got past them.

** spoiler alert ** What an amazing book! I really loved all the little characters in the book and how much depth they had. I would never have seen the twist coming, and it was crazy to me! But I was thinking about this book often when I couldn’t be reading it and I can’t wait to recommend it to others.

I absolutely loved this book. There was a point in this book (if you've read it you'll know what I'm talking about) where I had to close the book and rethink everything that I'd read. An amazing read and the one book that I always recommend to people.

It dragged so much.. the ‘plot twist’ wasn’t so much a twist if you actually pay attention to what’s happening. Pretty disappointing read.

It took me a couple of days to write this review. I’ve had a couple of days to think about this book and honestly, I don’t like it. I don’t understand why this book was so long. I personally don’t think it needed to be over 400 pages. It was a bit much. I don’t stand with the relationship in this book. Elliott is an angry person and I feel like it wasn’t addressed properly. There were some parts that I really enjoyed, but for the most part I found the book quite boring. I almost DNFd this book at points, I just really wanted to see what happened with Catherine and her mother at the end. 2/5 Stars Read my full review here: https://mybookishfantasy.com/2019/09/...

This book is captivating. I loved it! From the descriptions of Oak Creek to the fascinating story behind each character. Catherine and Elliott are such sweet protagonists, and I really became infatuated with their relationship. One thing I found very interesting was the Juniper, the bed-and-breakfast fun by Catherine and her mother. It was such a mysterious place and captured really well. Every single character was different and I throughly enjoyed getting to know each one. There were times when I felt sorry for Catherine and Elliott, but they came across as such strong characters, it was a wonderful read.
